2009 Cannes Film Festival Jury President: Isabelle Huppert

French actress Isabelle Huppert (55) has been named president of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival today. Huppert is only the fourth women to head a Cannes Film Festival jury, following Liv Ullmann, Jeanne Moreau and Francoise Sagan. The jury decides on most Cannes Festival awards, including the prestigious "Golden Palm" for the best film in competition.

Huppert herself is a two-time winner of Cannes Film Festival awards (Best Actress in 2001 for “The Piano Teacher” (directed by Michael Haneke) and in 1978 for “Violette Noziere" (directed by Claude Chabrol).

The rest of the jury and the films in competition will be announced in a few weeks
