Coen Brothers Are Jury Presidents for 2015 Cannes Film Festival

Joel and Ethan Coen were named co-presidents of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival jury. The Coen brothers are Cannes Film Festival regulars and won numerous awards, including Best Directors for "Fargo" and “Inside Llewyn Davis" as well as the Golden Palm for "Barton Fink". “We look forward to returning to Cannes this year,” the brothers declared. “We welcome as always the opportunity to watch movies there from all over the world. Cannes is a festival that has been important to us since the very beginning of our career. Presiding over the Jury is a special honor, since we have never heretofore been president of anything. We will issue further proclamations at the appropriate time.” The rest of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival Jury will be announced in April.

What to Expect in Newly Renovated Cannes Film Festival Palace

The Cannes Film Festival Palace has gone through an extensive renovation recently. Everything old went out, including the seats of the grand auditorium, which have apparently been shipped to the Richmond, Virginia (host of the biggest French film festival in the US).

Looking at a slideshow published by local newspaper Nice Matin, the new palace went from bunker (its current non-flattering nickname) to spaceship: the entrance hall now sports an all-white interior somewhat reminiscent of 1960's futuristic designs a la Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" - see example below.

"The Homesman" to win Cannes Festival 2014 Golden Palm

Using a strictly scientific and data-driven approach, local newspaper "Nice Matin" predicts Tommy Lee Jones "The Homesman" will win the Golden Palm in this year's Cannes Film Festival. The prediction is based on an analysis of all 90 films that won in Cannes since 1946 according to criteria such as duration of the film, its language, its country of origin and nationality of the film director.
